Services & Pricing

I provide four kinds of editing services: editorial assessments, developmental editing, copy editing, and proofreading. The section below briefly outlines what each type of editing entails and what you can expect to receive from me.

Please send me an outline of your manuscript when you contact me! This will help me better understand your work when I'm editing, which means I can provide more insightful feedback. An outline will typically include all major plot points, as well as significant characters and their roles.

I accept manuscripts of any length—but do note that my pricing depends on your word count. My fees are listed in the table at the bottom of the page.

You can also find me on Fiverr, where I offer full editing services for the first 10,000 words of your manuscript at a much lower price than my regular rates. That way, if you're not ready to commit just yet, you can get a sample of my editing.

Proofreading

This is typically the last stage of editing before publication, covering spelling, style, and formatting. Similar to copy editing, your manuscript will be returned with annotations made using 'Track Changes'. Additionally, please provide a style sheet if there are any unconventional words, phrases, or styles used in your manuscript that are part of your world-building. This will ensure I don't make any incorrect assumptions when editing.

Copy Editing

This service involves examining the manuscript's clarity, including sentence flow, grammar, repetition, dialogue tags, POV, verb tenses, and descriptive inconsistencies. In return, you will receive an annotated manuscript with edits using the 'Track Changes' function in Microsoft Word.

Developmental Editing

This covers the same material as an editorial assessment but is more detailed. You will receive both an editorial report summarizing feedback and an annotated manuscript highlighting where improvements can be made. Some of the edits performed at this stage can include adding, deleting, or rewriting parts of the manuscript.

Editorial Assessment

This is the broadest service I provide. Edits will be provided in the form of a short letter that covers characters, plot, and structure. For example, an editorial assessment might look at character arcs or large plot holes. I will not leave any annotations or comments within the manuscript; I will make overall comments about the piece instead.

Note that all payments are made through PayPal. Once we agree upon a deadline and the details of what you need, I will send you an invoice.
